More than 60 varietes of fruits are grown in Bangladesh..Major fruits include mango, banana, papaya, jackfruit, pineapple, guava, litchi, pummelo, lemon etc. The country has favourable soil and climate for fruit cultivation yet total production remains far less than enough. One of the reasons for low production is the absence of commercial cultivation of fruits.
